And finally .....
After about half a century, the building takes again its original function.
In 1999 Grotte di Castellana s.r.l. (the society which manages the Castellana Caves) entrusts to Gruppo Puglia Grotte the preparation and management of the Speleological Museum, and the organization of its didactic and research activities as well.
On January 23rd, 2000, the Speleological Museum, which is named after Franco Anelli, is officially inaugurated. Professor Paolo Forti, Director of the Italian Institute of Speleology, and Angelo Naseddu, vice president of the Italian Speleological Society, are present at the opening ceremony.
The Speleological Museum at Castellana-Grotte has been realized thanks to funding from the Project POP PUGLIA 1994-96 of the European Community, and with the collaboration of Gruppo Puglia Grotte.
